COURSE UPDATE FRIDAY 23RD APRIL

Yes another week of rain and more rain. Although we have had nearly sixty ml of rain over the last 48 hours the course has held up quiet well.

BUNKERS

Some of the bunkers have been adversely affected again with water damage but the good news is that most of the bunkers that were topped up with sand over the last few weeks have survived much better than before and with some repairs undertaken by the staff yesterday and today most of them will be back in play tomorrow. There will however be some bunkers staked tomorrow as they will take a little longer to dry out. We are currently carrying out some repairs to the drainage system in the bunker on the 15th and hopefully it will be back in play later next week.

GREENS

We have had a fault with the settings on two of the greens mowers which has occurred intermittently over the last few days and has slightly damages some of the greens on the old course. These two mowers have been returned to the manufacturer for repairs and resetting. Both mowers should be returned today fully operational and available to mow greens tomorrow morning prior to commencement of competition play. Members may notice some damage on some of the greens on the old course tomorrow, the damage is minor and, like a bad haircut, will be self rectifying in about a week.

Members will notice that vandals have caused some damage on the 25th green. They poured a small amount of chlorine on the surface of the front of green two Friday nights ago which caused a small amount of damage. They returned last Friday night and tried to etch some sort of message onto the green with a more of the chemical. If this damage occurred in a couple of months’ time it could have been repaired quickly with grass from the new nursery. Unfortunately the grass on the nursery is not quiet mature enough to transplant at this point in time. It will take some time for this damage to be repaired and grow out.

MOTORISED CARTS

The course has dried out well and at this stage and motorised carts will be allowed on course on the weekend. Please keep in mind and observe the directional signage on the course whilst driving the motorised carts.

LOCAL RULES FOR THE WEEKEND

We will be finalising the local rules later this afternoon and they will be posted on the Local Rules Board near the starters’ box as usual. At this stage the local rules for tomorrow will be similar to those in place last weekend.
