You all are likely to have now seen or heard of the Prime Minister’s press conference yesterday (Friday) about Australia’s 3-step plan to loosen the COVID-19 restrictions. I understand ScoMo even mentioned golf and the desire to get us all back on the course. Nice! This was quickly followed up by comments from Premier Palaszczuk confirming a plan for the easing of restrictions.
Queensland is set to implement Stage 1 after 11.59pm on Friday 15 May, which will allow (among other things) gatherings of up to 10 people in a public place.
We are working through what today’s announcements mean for golf at KCGC from next Saturday under stage 1 easing’s including waiting confirmation from the Chief Health Officer and consulting with industry bodies, peers and our staff who remain paramount. We hope to be back to you with a stage 1 plan Monday afternoon and before timesheets open Tuesday for next weekend. However, this will be monitored and may be delayed if necessary confirmations are not received.
There is a big push amongst the club industry in relation to the COVID-19 App (COVID Safe). At KCGC we fully support this push by industry and strongly encourage our members to download the app. We acknowledge it is a personal choice, however as restrictions ease and the clubhouse re-opens (hopefully), we see the use of the app as another tool in keeping our members and staff safe. If you are sitting on the fence or just have not got around to it, now is the time and we urge you to download the app.
To our mothers, I hope you have a lovely Sunday. You all deserve a break at this time.
