{"id":12213,"date":"2022-10-26T06:08:01","date_gmt":"2022-10-26T06:08:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.keperragolf.com.au\/cms\/?p=11123"},"modified":"2023-06-20T16:41:09","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:41:09","slug":"dylan-stephen-win-gold-silver-at-national-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.keperragolf.com.au\/cms\/2022\/10\/dylan-stephen-win-gold-silver-at-national-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Dylan &#038; Stephen win Gold &#038; Silver at National Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to our two Keperra Country Golf Club members who brought home medals from the Special Olympics Australia National Games held in Tasmania in October.<\/p>\n<p>Dylan Price and Stephen Lawley were part of the 19-strong golfing team representing Queensland and taking on the Country Club Tasmania championship golf course in Launceston. Both competed in Level 4, \u00a09-hole competitions, with Dylan taking the gold medal in Division 1 and Stephen scoring silver in Division 4.<\/p>\n<p>Dylan\u2019s winning performance included shooting a personal best of 48 on the final day of the three rounds. It was an extraordinary effort, especially considering Dylan fractured his left foot three weeks before flying to Tasmania with his family and caddy, fellow KCGC member Jarrod Mann.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDylan was working stacking shelves at a supermarket and a bottle of soft drink fell on his foot,\u201d dad Terry said. \u201cWe had to get a medical clearance for him to use a cart in the competition and he took off his moonboot to play. There was lots of ice and elevating his foot between each day\u2019s round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was a real trooper and he didn\u2019t complain. He has a pretty high pain threshold. The greens were tricky and fast and he played so well. He now has the set of medals: a gold, silver and bronze from the last three National Games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A gold medal isn\u2019t all Dylan came back from Tasmania with: he now has an elusive hole-in-one to his name. After the Games, he, Terry and Jarrod played the three courses at Barnbougle, with the 14-hole short-course Bougle Run their last hit-out before heading to the Launceston airport to return to Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p>Despite freezing rain and gale-force gusts, Dylan\u2019s tee shot on the 11<sup>th<\/sup> landed in the cup.
