{"id":15918,"date":"2025-08-07T11:39:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T01:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.keperragolf.com.au\/cms\/?p=15918"},"modified":"2025-08-07T11:39:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T01:39:10","slug":"course-news-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.keperragolf.com.au\/cms\/2025\/08\/course-news-14\/","title":{"rendered":"Course News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><strong>Greens 7 &amp; 8<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The turf surrounds on Greens 7 and 8 has now been fully planted, and we\u2019re very pleased with the progress to date. The growth response has been excellent, and feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The turf variety selected for the new greens is\u00a0<b><strong>TifEagle<\/strong><\/b>, a premium ultra-dwarf hybrid Bermuda grass specifically developed for putting surfaces. It offers a fine texture, excellent durability, and is well-suited\u00a0to our climate. TifEagle has already proven successful on our practice fairway greens, and we\u2019re confident it will deliver a high-quality playing surface.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Green 7 is a<b><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>dramatic departure\u00a0from its previous form. The new elevation introduces a fresh visual appeal and will undoubtedly create a very different putting experience\u00a0for players. While it was not possible to implement the same flood mitigation on Hole 8, every effort has been made on Hole 7 to reduce the risk of the green being inundated in the future.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The process of establishing the new putting surfaces is expected to begin in late August, aligning with rising temperatures and the prime spring growing period. Based on current progress, we anticipate the new greens will be ready for play towards the end of February.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><strong>Hole 14 &amp; Hole 22<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Improvement works on\u00a0<b><strong>Hole 14<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0have recommenced, with Stage One of the new cart path now completed. This phase also includes additional drainage and irrigation around the green, along with extensive turf planting in the green surrounds. While the area is beginning to take shape, a significant amount of tidy-up work remains and will be carried out over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On\u00a0<b><strong>Hole 22<\/strong><\/b>, repairs to the path damaged during recent weather events have now been completed, and the path is open for use. The affected turf in the surrounding area will be closely monitored, and at this stage, we are hopeful it will recover naturally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been a busy month on the course, with cart path repairs on<b><strong>\u00a0Holes 5, 6, and 7<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0now completed by our retaining wall contractor. While some minor tidy-up work remains, the completion of this task will officially close out the retaining wall project, a milestone that will be warmly welcomed by all.\u00a0 In addition, a small section of old bitumen between\u00a0<b><strong>Green 6 and Tee 7<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0has been removed and will soon be replaced with turf to further enhance the visual appeal and playability of the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team has also been actively undertaking\u00a0<b><strong>tree management works<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0across various areas of the course, with a particular focus on the removal of invasive species. A large portion of this work has centred around exposing and enhancing the natural waterways, highlighting\u00a0the natural beauty that is such a defining feature of our golf course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A major irrigation leak\u00a0between\u00a0<b><strong>Tee 14 and Green 15<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0has also been addressed as part of this month\u2019s work program. While the issue has been resolved, remediation of the adjacent path will be required to fully restore the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019d also like to thank our dedicated Tuesday volunteer team, who provide ongoing and invaluable support to the course maintenance crew. Their contributions each week make a real difference. A special mention to<b>\u00a0John Park<\/b>, who,\u00a0after a tremendous tenure, officially hung up his whipper snipper for the final time this month. The Club is incredibly fortunate to have members like John who generously give their time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re interested in joining the team, we warmly invite you to come along on Tuesday mornings from 7:00 am\u00a0to around 9:00 am. Each session wraps up with coffee and morning tea,\u00a0and it&#8217;s a great way to contribute, meet fellow members, and enjoy the camaraderie.
