In recent weeks, the greens have experienced strong growth due to warm conditions and periods of high humidity. These factors can place additional pressure on the turf and, at times, result in minor surface scarring or a slightly uneven appearance.<\/p>\n
To manage this, the course team has undertaken greens grooming (Sunday & Monday) as part of normal seasonal maintenance. Grooming involves lightly vertical mowing the greens to control excess growth and grain, helping maintain a smoother,\u00a0more consistent putting surface. This is followed by a light dusting of sand to protect the turf and maintain surface levels.<\/p>\n
The same growing conditions have also contributed to the more rapid deterioration of hole edges currently being observed. Softer surfaces, combined with regular daily play, can cause the immediate surrounds of the hole to wear more quickly than usual, despite best-practice hole-changing procedures being followed.<\/p>\n
Importantly, this type of maintenance is not irregular and is standard practice for this turf species during periods of active growth. Grooming and light sand dusting are routine agronomic tools used across high-quality golf facilities to manage warm-season putting surfaces and ensure their long-term performance.<\/p>\n
This program will continue approximately fortnightly for the remainder of the growing season. These proactive measures are undertaken to protect turf health and maintain consistent putting conditions. We thank members for their understanding.<\/p>\n
