{"id":8516,"date":"2020-09-02T06:21:51","date_gmt":"2020-09-02T06:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.keperragolf.com.au\/cms\/?p=8516"},"modified":"2023-06-20T16:41:33","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T06:41:33","slug":"keperra-bowl-female-first-golf-australia-article","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.keperragolf.com.au\/cms\/2020\/09\/keperra-bowl-female-first-golf-australia-article\/","title":{"rendered":"Keperra Bowl &#8211; Female First \/ Golf Australia Article"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">The Keperra Bowl has rapidly risen to become one of Australian amateur golf\u2019s most cherished prizes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">And even amidst the tumult of 2020, the proactive Keperra Country Golf Club in Brisbane\u2019s north-western suburbs is taking another key step to securing that mantle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">Entries for the 2020 edition, to be played from 13-16 October, open today &#8212; and for the first time in its 16 years, there will be a female crown up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">It\u2019s a move that Keperra general manager Gavin Lawrence said was \u201conly logical\u201d for the national rankings tournament.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">\u201cWe all know that women\u2019s golf is critical to the future of the sport and, to be honest, this has been something of a void for us, so we\u2019re delighted to introduce women to the Keperra Bowl,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">\u201cFrom Marc Leishman as our first men\u2019s winner and onwards, we\u2019ve got a great honour roll and we\u2019d love to see that become exactly the same in the women\u2019s (division).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">\u201cEveryone at the club\u2019s right behind it and very supportive, so we can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">Golf Australia\u2019s female pathway manager and former Vic Open champion Stacey Peters was equally excited.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic that the decision was made to have a women\u2019s field join such a prestigious and well regarded event,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">\u201cWe\u2019ve felt a lot of momentum building around female golf lately and the more we see clubs get behind this concept, the better it will be at all levels of the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">\u201cWe commend Keperra for being so proactive and encourage all clubs to consider such moves to help us promote the equality we\u2019re striving for as part of Vision 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">The field will comprise 136 men and 36 women, with additional non-exempt entries balloted out based on GA handicap at 30 September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\">A pair of 36-hole cuts will reduce the fields to 40 (and ties) and 21 (and ties), respectively, for third-round play.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Typographystyle__Text-sc-3w7d1c-4 djtVEK\"><a class=\"Linkstyle__StyledLink-sc-6km0xv-0 dNxLQR\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golf.org.au\/events#\/competition\/2198756\/info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em class=\"Typographystyle__Italics-sc-3w7d1c-13 gIrbtx\"><strong class=\"Typographystyle__Bold-sc-3w7d1c-12 qiLkP\">Registration link here<\/strong><\/em><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.keperragolf.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/00144947-image.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7606\" src=\"https:\/\/www.keperragolf.com.au\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/00144947-image.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"635\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Keperra Bowl has rapidly risen to become one of Australian amateur golf\u2019s most cherished prizes.
