Course News

The course and maintenance team have been busy preparing the course for the upcoming Club Championships and Keperra Bowl.

A few smaller projects have been completed including laying turf on the left-hand side of the 7th fairway and fairway bunker, along with the recently used 5B temporary Tee block.  This area will remain compulsory GUR until the suitable grow-in process has been completed.  Both 7 and 5A temporary greens have been left to grow out back to fairway height and this process has now been completed and are to be considered in play.  We simply ask Members treat them as normal and repair their divots.

For all those Members participating in the Club Championships, we hope you enjoy what the course has to offer and wish you all the best of luck.

Tim Inglis

Assistant Course Superintendent

Women's Golf Update

Our first Women’s Honour Board event for the year, the Captain’s 4BBB Stroke (17 February), saw Donna Dodson and Mandy Stephens claim victory with an outstanding 60 nett. Runners-up were Ann-Maree Ree and Karen Cannon with 61 nett — fabulous scoring by all.

On Tuesday March 3rd, the semi finals of the Women's Captain 4BBB Matchplay were contested, with Chrissy Booth & Michelle Casey going down to Susan Mortimer & Kim Williams (3&2). In the other Match Sue Truckey & Jackie Arnott were defeated by Carrie Barham & Rhonda Salmond (on the 20th Hole).  Good luck to both pairs in next week's final.

The Women’s Club Championships commence on Saturday 7 March. Wishing all competitors the very best.

Our first Open Day for 2026 will be held on Tuesday 17 March. With over 70 entries already received, it promises to be a fantastic day. The format is a 4-person Ambrose with a twist, plus great prizes on offer. Thank you to Whitehead & Crump of Harcourts Solutions for their valued sponsorship of our event.

Congratulations also to our Junior Girls Pennants Team, who secured 4 points at Pacific on 15 February. The next round is on March 8th— good luck and enjoy the experience.

Ally Maguire

Women's President

Call for old Golf balls

With the Club’s Junior Program continuing to prosper, supplies of golf balls are beginning to run low. Members who have any used golf balls they no longer require are encouraged to consider donating them to the Club to help support the ongoing development of junior goflers.  Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated and may be dropped to the Golf Shop at any time.

International Women's Day - March 8th

Sunday March 8th marks International Women’s Day, a global celebration recognising the achievements, contributions and strength of women across all communities. It is an opportunity to acknowledge progress made, reflect on continued advancement, and celebrate the positive impact women have within the Club and beyond.

2026 Keperra Bowl - March 23-27

The Club is excited to announce that in partnership with Golf Australia and the Professional Golfers Association of Australia, the Gents Champion of this year’s Keperra Bowl (March 23–27) will receive automatic entry into the 2026 Queensland PGA Championship at Nudgee Golf Club. This exciting opportunity gives the winner the chance to participate in a highly regarded state-level professional tournament and test their skills against some of the strongest players in the Game, which last year hosted 2022 British Open Champion, Cameron Smith.

2026 will mark the second year in which the Keperra Bowl is played in March. Last year’s event attracted an exceptionally strong field, with a deeper talent pool competing in the WAGR and Golf Australia–sanctioned event.

Members may recognise names such as Justice Bosio, Elvis Smylie, Billy Dowling, Anthony Quayle, Daniel Gale, and last year’s winners, Chase Oberle and Molly McLean — all of whom have claimed victory at the Keperra Bowl and gone on to achieve greater success on both the national and international golfing circuits.

As always, the Club is seeking volunteers to help with the smooth running of the event. Members who are interested in contributing their time for a day or two are encouraged to email the Club at admin@keperragolf.com.au, specifying their preferred dates.

For those members unfamiliar with The Bowl, it provides the Club with an excellent opportunity to showcase the course, the overall facilities and importantly the welcoming culture that Keperra possesses. The Board would like to thank all members for their support of the tournament and the facility access sacrifices that are made throughout the 5 days of the event.

Play will still be available over 9 holes for the full duration of the event. All Clubhouse access and general member services will remain unchanged throughout the week of the tournament.

BLDGA Junior Pennants Update

After a fun junior girls development series of clinics in Autumn last year, BDLGA has re-established a junior girls pennants series for 2026.  This first iteration has a modest six teams playing over three rounds February-March.  Notwithstanding, the opportunity to take part has been eagerly taken up by Keperra, Pacific, Wynnum-Virginia (teaming up), Meadowbrook, Royal Queensland, and a non-affiliated final team calling themselves the All Stars.

Keperra’s girls are school friends and club junior members Ella Gould, Bee Han, and Wilhelmina (Willa) Keyner.  They are at Keperra every week with Tony Robertson in their Kelvin Grove State College golf strip, and now get the opportunity to represent the Club externally.

Round 1 was played at Pacific on Sunday 15 February.  The girls played three-way ‘all versus all’ matchplay; each going up against a Meadowbrook and a Pacific player in their flight.  Ella played off-the-stick and went down 3&2 and 1 Down in her matches.  Bee and Willa played in handicaps-based matches: Bee with an excellent 5&4 win against her Meadowbrook opponent and squaring against the Pacific girl; Willa squaring against Meadowbrook and going down 3&2 against the Pacific girl.  Importantly, they each had good spirits and fought hard.

Next round is this Sunday hosted at RQ, and then the final round is 15 March at McLeod.

Thanks to our Women's Captain Julie Lakotij for coordination and support, and Jacque Giles of BDLGA for leading this reinvigoration of junior girls pennants.

Returning Sand Buckets

Members are kindly reminded to return their sand buckets to the designated holders following their round. Recently, a number of sand buckets have been found in the car park, where they have unfortunately been damaged by vehicles. Your assistance in returning them to the designated areas is greatly appreciated and helps us maintain the course facilities for everyone’s benefit and avoid an unnecessary added cost to the Club.

opening of Holes 7 & 8

After enduring several floods, a cyclone, multiple delays and restarts — and a lengthy rebuild overall — the Club was proud to officially open the 7th and 8th holes to the Membership on 14 February.

The occasion was marked the day before with a special celebratory opening. Club Captain Greg Marshall was joined by Club Member and two-time PGA TOUR winner John Senden, who hit a ceremonial shot into the greens. Earlier in the day, the Greens team completed the final preparations before cutting the very first holes on the newly finished surfaces.

The Club sincerely thanks its Membership for their ongoing support and patience throughout this significant project. The Club also gratefully acknowledges the funding assistance provided by the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and the Queensland Government’s Community Recreational Assets Recovery and Resilience Program, whose support was instrumental in bringing the project to completion.

Special mention to Women’s Pennant Captain Mel Robertson who marked the occasion on Feb 14th by having birdies on both holes during her round.
