Wes Hinton - Australian Junior CHampionships

Keperra's 2023 Gents Club Champion and Junior Champion, Wes Hinton, continued his rich vain of form when travelling to Tasmania to compete in this year's Australian Junior Championship, hosted by Tasmania Golf Club.

After shooting rounds of 69 (3 under) & 68 (4 under) for his opening 36 holes, Wes found himself atop the leader board with a 2 shot lead over his nearest rival, despite carding a 3rd round 70 (2 under).  Wes found himself 3 shots adrift heading into the final round.

In the end Wes was unable to make up the deficit over the closing 18 holes, coming in a commendable 6th overall.

The Club would like to acknowledge Wes and his fantastic performance, a special mention must also go to his long term coach, Chris McCourt, and the incredible work he has done in helping Wes elevate his game to another level.

Date Claimer: British Open Par 3 DInner 21/7

Ladies pennants

The 2023 Ladies BDLGA Pennant season has kicked off with Keperra competing in the Zone 1 Sapphire Pennant and the Silver Weekend Pennant.  To follow our teams throughout the season, follow the below links to the Brisbane & District Ladies Golf Association Pennant Pages.

Unfortunately it hasn't been the quickest of starts out of the blocks for the Silver Pennant side, however with a few weeks still to go, there's still plenty of time to make up ground.  The Sapphire Pennant have had a solid start and are in prime position to contend.  Well done ladies and good luck for the remainder of the season.

Sponsor Spotlight - Bank of QLD ASPLEY

Phil Carrington - BOQ Aspley for all your banking needs both personal and business.

Recent testimonial from members of Keperra.

We've dealt with many big banks over the years where you are a customer number and it takes a lot of time and effort to talk to a real person.

Phil Carrington and Bank of Queensland Aspley have been the complete opposite. Phil took the time to understand our ideas and goals and has helped us to achieve these with the purchase of our first investment property. The process was tailored, easy and efficient. We have recommended Phil and his team to friends and family knowing they'll take care of you.

Michael and Jemma Leonard (Members Keperra Country Golf Club)

If Phil can assist you, family or friends please call on 0458 635190.

Keperra Cup

Congratulations to Trevor Brumpton for winning this year's Keperra Cup held earlier in April with a nett score of 65.  Well done Trevor.

Hole in 1 - Craig Towner - 25th

Craig stepped up to the 25th tee with the usual club of choice, a 9 iron playing into a slight wind.  What certainly appeared to be a well struck shot landed and started tracking towards the hole before pulling up just short.  The group started walking towards the green before arriving to find the ball had since disappeared into the hole.  Well done Craig.

Hole in 1 - Ian Cole - 25th

"It was a windy day on April 22, but even the difficult conditions proved no match for a man with a plan. That plan was to ace the tricky 25th and that man was Ian Cole. Not satisfied with 5 previous hole in ones, Ian surveyed the tricky conditions, took out his trusty 7 iron and punched one low in to the wind. They say that you know when a great shot is going in straight off the face of the club, and this shot was testament to that. Ian's playing partners were shouting "it's going in" even before it had travelled 30 metres and to the applause of his group and the group behind, the ball took a big bounce and then traced a gentle arc directly into the hole at the perfect pace.

Ian nonchalantly turned, picked up his tee and tipped his hat to those that witnessed the perfect shot. It turns out that Ian has now a had a hole in one on hole 8, 25 and 27, with the last one being in 2019. In his mind he was long overdue!

The "1 a 4" went onto the scorecard and made a big impact on the overall score for the day. If only he had entered the pro pin that fateful day!"

As told by playing partner Sean O'Connell
