Adam Scott treats KCGC Juniors

The Club's Juniors had a special experience in the lead up to the Australian PGA.  They enjoyed watching Australian Golfing Touring Professional Adam Scott put on a clinic at Royal Queensland. This is the second time in as many years our Juniors were invited to watch and learn from Adam after the Club won Junior Development Program of the year in Queensland.

Lots of smiles with a few "oooohs and aaaaahs" as Adam piped a few drives and showed off his short game.

Special thanks to Club Teaching Professional and Junior Coordinator Chris McCourt, and Associates Jack Jones and Jordan Rooke for assisting throughout the clinic.

Insurance

Members will have recently received a communication to some changes in respect to insurance.  Fundamentally these changes have seen the removal of general cover that was provided for golf equipment including golf buggies and personal accident.  We encourage members to be familiar with this communication (issued 5/12) as to ensure your personal insurance requirements are being met.

Laurel calls it a day

Below is an article which will soon be published in an edition of Inside Golf as written by Member David Newbury.  It details the life of long term member Laurel Jones (below far right) who after over 48 years at Keperra has decided to give the game away.

"One of Keperra Country Golf Club's most decorated golfers, Laurel Jones, has reluctantly called time on her outstanding career that spanned more than four decades at the popular Brisbane club.

In November, Laurel played her final round - albeit a shortened round. After leaving the golf course, she placed her clubs, including her trusty Wilson Staff 8133 putter she has used so deftly since 1972, in the boot of her car for the final time.

A legendary figure around the club, Laurel, whose name appears on the honour boards many times, has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and no longer has the will to play golf.

The 79-year-old has accepted her fate - albeit with a heavy heart.  - To continue reading the article, please head to the Member homepage.
