Course Update / Renovations

The 14th hole pathway, as well as the greenside area will be open for play from Saturday (4/10) - The Club wishes to thank Members for their patience throughout the process.

The Club wishes to remind Members that the Course will undergo its annual major renovation from October 20-21, as such the Club will be closed on both days and reopening on Wednesday 22nd for regular trading.

At this stage, the green renovations will involve a process of heavy scarification to remove thatch buildup. This will be followed by aeration utilising hollow tines to allow for soil amendments.  Furthermore, the greens will be heavily topdressed to create a smoother playing surface. Tees will also undergo solid tines aeration to relieve compaction, they will be topdressed and fertilised as part of the program (this will include fairways on holes 19–27). In total, approximately 800 tonnes of sand and 75 tonnes of gypsum will be applied throughout the course during this process.

This period of closure provides an excellent opportunity for regular maintenance and repair within the Clubhouse.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: CALLING THE FIELD

Unfortunately the Club is no longer able to call the field before 7:00am on weekdays and 8:00am on weekends.

As a result, effective immediately:

  • Morning fields on Saturdays will no longer be called.
  • Wednesday fields prior to 7:00am will also not be called.

What this means for Members:

  • It is now the Member’s responsibility to be on the correct tee at the correct time.
  • Once handicapped rounds recommence following the Golf Connect integration, members tee time information will be available via the MiScore App and as always upon checking in at the Golf Shop.
  • Members must check in at the Golf Shop at least 15 minutes before their scheduled tee time.

The Club recognises this is not an ideal situation, but these changes are unfortunately necessary at this time. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

wES wINS gARY pLAYER cLASSIC

Congratulations to KCGC member Wes Hinton on winning the 2025 Gary Player Classic – 18+ Years Division. Wes shot an impressive 7-under to finish seven shots clear of second place. Fellow member Ben Dowling also performed well, finishing in a tie for 10th.

In the 16–17 Years Division, Cooper Field finished outright 5th, nine shots behind the winner Chase Oberle (the 2024 Keperra Bowl Champion). In the 15 Years & Under Division, Jesse Linden recorded a strong result, finishing in a tie for 5th.

Well done to all our Keperra members who teed it up in the event!

Snakes on the course

Members are strongly advised to remain cautious, as snake activity is increasing with the warmer temperatures. Please stay vigilant around water hazards, tall grass, and wooded areas, where snakes are more commonly found. These environments provide natural shelter and are typical hiding spots, so it’s important to remain alert throughout your round. For your safety, avoid reaching into bushes, undergrowth, or any areas with limited visibility.

Captains Nett Matchplay

The final of the Gents' Captain's Nett Matchplay Championship was held on Saturday, 6 September, featuring a closely anticipated clash between Chris Parker and Keith Howells.

Both players had taken challenging paths to reach the final:

  • Chris Parker advanced from the first round via a walkover, before surviving two nail-biting 1-up wins in both his quarter-final and semi-final matches.

  • Keith Howells was taken to extra holes in his opening match, followed by a strong 2 & 1 quarter-final win, and a hard-fought 1-up victory in the semis.

With the match all square at the turn, it came down to who could hold their nerve over the back nine. In the end, it was Keith’s steady play and composure under pressure that proved decisive, as he pulled ahead to secure a 3 & 2 victory and claim the title. Congratulations Keith.

Jane tees it up at St Andrews

Great to see KCGC member Jane Lindsay enjoying her holiday in the UK—especially since she made it to the Home of Golf, St Andrews. Jane played the Eden Course but also stopped by the home of the R&A and took in the sights and sounds of the Old Course, including the Swilcan Bridge, the Road Hole, and the 18th green.
