GA Connect - the Changes coming

In coming weeks, you will no doubt hear about changes coming to the technology used to enhance your golf experience.  Those changes stem from Golf Australia undertaking a major digital transformation that includes the transition away from the 25-year-old GOLF Link platform to a new system called Golf Australia CONNECT.

This new platform will provide enhanced technology services to more than 1,900 golf clubs and venues, and Australia’s 450,000-plus golf club members.

For golfers, there will be two key changes coming from October 2nd later this year.  The first of these will be the introduction of the new Official Golf Australia Official App which will replace the existing GA Handicap App. The new app will retain the existing handicap lookup feature and introduce a range of exciting new tools to enhance the golfer experience.

The new mobile app will be available via either the Apple App or Google Play stores from October 2. Further instructions on how to move from the old to the new mobile app will be provided to both clubs and golfers in the weeks leading up to the transition. For those golfers that use apps through Licensed Software Providers (LSPs), such as MiClub & MiScore (KCGC’s current provider), you will continue to use these apps just as you do now.

Secondly, there will be a new portal to access your GA Handicap. This will be done via Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia’s new website, GOLF.com.au which goes live on October 2. Through your account, you will be able to view and track your handicap in a streamlined and highly functional new dashboard.

Prior to the October 2 transition, the only thing you need to do is check your existing golf.org.au account details are up to date. If you don't already have an online account, and you wish to view your handicap history online or use the new GA App following the transition, you will need to create an account at golf.org.au.

From October 2, golf.org.au will automatically redirect to the new GOLF.com.au website.

In order to undertake the transition effectively, Golf Australia has advised all clubs and venues there will be an offline period from the evening of September 28 through to October 2. During this short period, rounds of golf played will not be able to be handicapped or submitted to the portal. Members should note that KCGC will be running competition play during this period, but no handicapping will take place until we are notified by our provider MiClub that we are able to do so. NB. No competition rounds can be retrospectively handicapped once we come back online with Golf Connect.

While some clubs will regain access to the new platform from October 2, up to two weeks will be required for clubs affiliated with MiClub to fully integrate into the platform and provide their respective clubs with handicap functions.

We are reviewing the golfing calendar with this offline period in mind. These new handicap and club management solutions have been developed by Golf Australia in partnership with DotGolf, a golf technology company co-owned by The R&A and Golf New Zealand.

DotGolf has significant experience in providing golf technology services including handicapping management to golfers and golf clubs in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and New Zealand.

As with any major technology transition, there will be some key initial steps for users - principally golf clubs and their members - to help facilitate the change to the new system.

GA will be significantly expanding resources for our own Golf Australia Helpdesk to provide direct support to golfers.  In the meantime, if you want to know a little more about this technological transition, Golf Australia has developed an online Golfer Information Guide. You can access this guide here: Golf Australia CONNECT Golfer Information Guide

This is an important project for golf around Australia. Golf Australia is excited about the benefits that will eventually flow to its clubs, facilities, golfers and golf fans.

Course News

Pleasingly warm overnight temperatures have helped the Course steadily return to healthier overall conditions — a positive development as the Course and Maintenance Team prepare to commence the annual weed eradication program.

Looking ahead, the Club’s Major Annual Course Renovations are scheduled for the week commencing October 20. These works will be comprehensive and invasive, focusing on the removal of thatch and grain throughout key playing areas. Renovation tasks will include tees and fairways, with particular attention to holes 19–27. The practice fairway greens and tees will also undergo renovation during this period.

The 7th and 8th greens have now been sprigged with stolons. Grow mats have been installed to assist in establishing healthy turf. Please be aware that irrigation will run hourly to maintain optimal moisture levels for stolon development.

We’re also pleased to report that construction of the new concrete pathway along the left-hand side of the 14th fairway is now complete. Fresh turf has been laid, and the grow-in phase is nearly finished. This area, including the surrounding turf, will be open for play shortly.

Gents Midweek Championships

Despite some very overcast, wet and windy conditions the Gents Midweek Championship wrapped up on Wednesday the 27th.  Congratulations to Max and John who took out the Nett and Gross Championship:

Gross Champion           Max Gill               153

Nett Champion             John Porter           139

Ladies Matchplay championship

In the A Grade Final, a high-calibre contest between Ally Maguire and Jackie Dowling unfolded. Demonstrating composure and skill throughout the match, Ally ultimately claimed victory with a 4 & 3 margin—securing her second A Grade title in four years, a testament to her continued excellence on the course.

The B Grade Final delivered a nail-biting finish as Kim Williams and Pat Connor battled not only for the win, but for their first-ever B Grade Matchplay crown. After 18 closely fought holes, the players remained tied, necessitating a tense playoff. In the end, it was Kim who held her nerve to triumph on the 19th hole, earning a hard-fought and well-deserved victory.

The C Grade Final also saw a new champion crowned. Catrina Daly faced off against Kathy Madden in a match marked by determination on both sides. Catrina had progressed confidently through earlier rounds, while Kathy secured her place in the final after a dramatic 19th-hole win in her semi-final. In a closely contested encounter, it was Catrina who ultimately edged ahead, claiming the title with a 3 & 2 win.

Congratulations to all of our champions.

Special Olympics Inter Club Tournament

It was sunny skies and smiles all round at the Keperra Country Golf Club on Sunday (17 August) as 34 Special Olympics golfers, including World Games medallists, competed in a Special Olympics Queensland Inter-Club competition.

The athletes, plus 13 playing partners for those teeing off in the alternate shot format, came from Special Olympics clubs on the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Gympie, Moreton North, Ipswich/Lockyer Valley and Redlands, as well as the host Brisbane Club.

The Keperra course was in tip-top shape for the event, with the golfers cheered on by family, friends and locals.

Thanks to a generous sponsorship from the RACQ Stafford Office as part of its Local Giving Program, winners and placegetters across six divisions of the 9-hole and 18-hole competitions took home some great golf equipment prizes.

Among those victorious in their divisions were Amanda Patterson, a silver medallist at the Berlin Special Olympics World Games, and world bronze medallist and Keperra member Dylan Price.

The Special Olympics is a global sporting initiative for athletes with intellectual disability and/or autism, and the Keperra Country Golf Club is proud to be a Special Olympics Australia Affiliate and home for the Special Olympics Brisbane Club.

Gents Pennant Team win Div 2 Flag

A huge congratulations to our Gents BDGA Pennant team, who secured a strong victory in the final round of the 2025 season, defeating Virginia Golf Club at home with a score of 14.5–6.5.

This impressive result means that KCGC will be promoted back to Division 1, where we’ll compete against Royal Queensland, Brisbane, and Pacific Golf Club.

We’d also like to extend congratulations to our Open and Junior squads, who both won their respective flags, and to our Masters team, who finished a commendable second in their division.

An incredible achievement by the entire squad, who went through the entire home-and-away season undefeated!

We’d like to recognise the outstanding performances of several individuals:

  • Matt Lake – Keperra Player of the Year
Won 5 out of 5 matches, including an incredible comeback from 5 down. Matt was instrumental in swinging momentum in our favour throughout the season.
  • Chase Duffy – Keperra Open Player of the Year
Claimed 5.5 wins from 6 games — a consistently strong performer.
  • Jaxon Smith – Keperra Junior of the Year
Won 5 out of 5 in his debut season for Keperra. A remarkable effort from a rookie!
  • Daniel Butler – Keperra Master of the Year
The Pennant Captain led by example, inspiring the team before tee-off and finishing the season with 5 wins from 6 matches.
  • Greg Marshall – Keperra Caddy of the Year
Our Club Captain was on the bag for Chase Duffy and helped guide him to an undefeated season. His support and energy had a positive impact across the squad.

Well done to all players, caddies, and supporters. A fantastic team effort and a season to be proud of!

We would also like to express our sincere thanks to our Club Pennant Sponsor, Phil Wuersching from Jim’s Test & Tag, for his continued and much-valued support.
