2026 Club Championships

The Final Round of the Women’s and Gents Club Championships were completed on Sunday March 22nd.

In the Women’s Championship Maddy Coster (above left) managed to overcome a 3 shot deficit and overtake rising junior Ella Gould (Girls Junior Champion), eventually finishing a 3 shot victor from Kea Utomo.

This year’s Gents Club Championship saw a wire to wire victory for defending Champion Wesley Hinton (above right) with his nearest rival and this year’s (Boys Junior Champion), Cooper Field trailing by 8 shots.

B Grade could not be decided in regulation and a playoff was required to determine our Champion for 2026. It would take 2 additional holes but in the end Warren Scott was able to outlast Darren Sternbeck by making a par on the second playoff hole.

In C Grade Riley Grace held a 3 shot lead going into the final round which he would extend to 6 over junior Ryan McGuigan by the end of the day’s play to take home the title.

Congratulations to all our winners and as always a massive thanks must go to Jeffrey McConaghy and his ongoing support of this prestigious event.

2026 Keperra Bowl

Last week saw some outstanding performances lighting up the course from start to finish.

In the Men’s Championship, Chase Oberle (The Brisbane GC) delivered a truly dominant performance, finishing at an incredible -21. At one stage during the final round, Chase was firmly on course record watch, sitting at an astonishing -9 through 16 holes — despite including two bogeys. With this victory Chase has earned himself a start in the 2026 Queensland PGA.

Adding to the achievement, Chase becomes just the second player to go back-to-back at the Keperra Bowl since Elvis Smylie (2019/2020) — a testament to his consistency and class. He finished well clear of Taylor Barr (Sanctuary Cove GC), who secured second place at -12 after a strong showing.

Over in the Women’s Championship, Amelia Harris (Yarra Yarra GC) produced a superb performance to claim the title at -12, with Alicia Ludi (Nudgee GC) finishing runner-up at -8 following a consistent week of golf.  As a result Amelia has secured a spot in the 2027 Victorian Open.

On the Keperra front, Grace Rho finished T10 at +6, while Alfie Ward finished at T11 at -5.

A huge congratulations to all competitors for showcasing such high-quality golf, and a sincere thank you to our volunteers and supporters who made the 2026 Keperra Bowl such a success.

Wes SHoots Course Record

During Wednesday’s (March 4th) Double A-rated monthly medal competition, Club Champion Wes Hinton shot an impressive 10 under par, 62, with just one bogey, to match the current Old Course record held by former member Scott Draper. This outstanding achievement underscores Wes’s skill and consistency as a golfer.

The 19 year old got off to a flying start, birdying the first two holes before recording his only bogey of the round on the par-3 4th. He was 1 under with 14 holes remaining and then birdied holes 5 and 9. On the back nine, widely regarded as the more challenging stretch, Wes produced a remarkable 7 under, showcasing his composure and precision.

Reflecting on the key moments, Wes shared:

“Eagled 11, hit a 5 iron from 174m into the wind to 15ft left, and made the downhill putt. On 14, hit a 3 wood past the bunker to 70m out, then hit a L wedge to 3 ft and tapped it in. This put me -5 through 5 on the back nine. On 17, hit a 6 iron from 176m to 11ft just left and made the downhill left-to-right birdie putt to get to -10, and -7 on the back nine.”

This exceptional round not only matches the course record but also reinforces Wes Hinton’s standing as one of the club’s premier golfers.

BDLGA Junior Girls Pennant Champions

Keperra’s three junior girls representing the club in the BDLGA 2026 Junior Girls Pennants competition delivered an outstanding performance in the final round at McLeod GC on Sunday March 15, narrowly securing the overall season honours.

Ella Gould (pictured below middle) recorded one win and one loss, Bee Han (pictured below right) delivered one win and a halve, while Wilhelmina Keyner (picture below left) was exceptional, winning both of her matches. The team accumulated nine points for the day, sealing a come-from-behind victory with 17 points across the three rounds—just edging out co-runners-up Meadowbrook and Royal Queensland.

Importantly, the competition proved an enjoyable experience for all participants, catering to both off-the-stick and handicap-based players. The result was a fantastic and well-earned bonus for the Keperra team.

Subject to participant feedback and BDLGA decisions, the Junior Girls Pennants is expected to return as an annual competition, scheduled ahead of the Women’s Pennants season (April–June). There is also the potential for modest expansion in both the number of rounds and team sizes. Should this occur, Keperra looks forward to once again competing strongly in 2027.

The club congratulates the team on a superb result, with special recognition awarded to MVP Bee Han.

Women's Golf Update

The great weather we’ve enjoyed over the past month has meant minimal disruptions to our golfing calendar.

The final of the Captain’s 4BBB Stroke, held on Tuesday 10th March, saw Kim Williams and Susan Mortimer claim victory with a 2/1 win over Carrie Barham and Rhonda Salmon. Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to Helen Blanchfield for refereeing the final.

Our March Monthly Medal winners were:

Weekend: Kaelene Clarke – nett 69

Weekday A Grade: Kate Outridge – nett 77

Weekday B Grade: Deb White – nett 74

Weekday C Grade: Lesleigh Reed – 35 points (OCB) from Mags Bazley

Our first Open Day for 2026, held on St Patrick’s Day (March 17th), was a great success with a strong field of 82 players. The format was a 4-person Ambrose with a fun twist, and we were delighted to have our generous sponsors, (Simon) Whitehead and (Drew) Crump of Harcourt Solutions, present on the day to award the prizes - see below photos.

Congratulations to the winning team from Keperra—Julie Watson, Karen Pisarek, Chrissy Booth and Alana Griffiths—who posted an incredible nett score of 56.875.

A sincere thank you to our amazing greens staff, kitchen and bar teams, and of course our Women’s Committee for delivering such a successful and enjoyable event. Feedback from our visitors was overwhelmingly positive, especially regarding the creative Ambrose “twists”.

Congratulations also to all players who competed in this year’s Club Championships:

Women’s Club Champion: Maddy Coster

Women’s Nett Champion: Savannah Rains

Girls Champion: Ella Gould

Well done to everyone involved. Full results are available on the Club website.

Women’s golf across South East Queensland continues to go from strength to strength, highlighted by the successful return of the Junior Pennants competition. An even bigger highlight—our Keperra Juniors took out the pennant win! A huge congratulations to Bee, Willa and Ella for their commitment, resilience through some very ordinary weather, and fantastic result.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter and plenty of great scores on the course!

Cheers,

Ally Maguire

Women's Captain 4BBB Stroke Matchplay

Despite the wet weather that the course endured over the 2 days prior to the Women’s Captains 4BBB Final, the event was still able to be contested.

This year Carrie Barham and Rhonda Salmond were up against Susan Mortimer and Kim Williams. In a tense battle Susan and Kim were eventually able to close things out securing a 2 & 1 victory.

Congratulations both teams on making the Final and to our 2026 Champions.
