It has been another week dominated by weather, with 40mm falling over the course to date. On Monday we had a major irrigation “Blow Out” resulting in staff being redeployed to repair this critical piece of infrastructure. We had the water back on by Tuesday afternoon, however the pit on the 11th hole will remain open until the area dries out. On a positive note, the course did not need any added watering over this period.
The team were able to complete the scheduled spraying program this week, with the remainder of the time spent reinstating as many bunkers as possible, and general maintenance mowing. Albeit a little damp, as at Friday afternoon the course is in good shape for the weekend, with the 22nd hole to be played to the green proper from the artificial tee and the 23rd hole played as a par 5.
Unfortunately, the 22nd hole project has been delayed another week with path works being postponed. In the coming week we are planning to groom and dust the greens on holes 1-18 on Monday, however weather will dictate many of the on course activities.
Fingers crossed that the Championships are able to be completed over the weekend!
Good luck to all those in contention.
