The past two weeks has seen significant time dedicated to general clean-up work and some tree removal after several days of high winds. Members will also notice that the aquatic weed on the dams (holes 1, 10 & 17) have been sprayed and there is noticeable discolouration as the weed dies off.
Shed Construction: While the project has been progressing well, this week has produced the first real signs of visible advancement, which has been exciting to see. The bulk of the framework has been erected and work will continue tomorrow, Saturday 31st. To comply with safety requirements, play on the 19th tee will be from the forward tee block. This may be required from time to time during the construction phase.
22nd Hole: The three greenside bunkers have all been reshaped and constructed using the new Capillary Concrete drainage system. Over the coming weeks the bunkers will be filled with sand, and the final shaping of the green surrounds will be completed with solid turfing of this area. Once the green surrounds turf has grown in, expected to be late September, play will recommence from the synthetic mats to the green proper.
With play restored to the 22nd green, the focus will shift to stripping the first ½ of the fairway, which will see the removal of the temporary green. At this stage it is anticipated that the 22nd hole will be restored to a par 4 in late November, albeit with preferred lie, as the fairway grass continues to mature.
Happy Golfing
