13th August Course Update

The last two weeks has seen some significant maintenance tasks completed, with my team making the most of the recent lockdown.

We have been able to clear a large volume of unwanted undergrowth on the 17th, 20th & 23rd holes, dramatically improving the visibility of Kedron Brook, one of our courses most prominent features.  There has been some tree maintenance as part of an ongoing program which will continue over the coming months.

The period without any golfers also provided the perfect opportunity to spray some pre-emergent herbicide, along with some more specific herbicides on the tees and fairways.  There are some areas of undesirable grasses and broadleaf weeds that will be noticeably starting to brown off.  The tees have been fertilised to promote growth as the warmer months approach.

There has been a large amount of returfing undertaken over the past two weeks. Areas on the 10th and 13th fairways, along with the approach and bunker surrounds on the 22nd hole.

Earlier this week the greens were de-compacted and aerated by an external contractor, a process that will be repeated next month.

Happy Golfing,

Keith Johnson
