‘Team Keperra’ claims national title in funds raised for Cancer Council

On Monday (Dec 13th), at 4:20am a group of 24 Keperra Members, aptly named ‘Team Keperra’ congregated on the putting green for a quick briefing before heading out onto holes 19-27 to complete what has been coined as ‘The Longest Day’.  The Longest Day is a Cancer Council golf initiative aimed at raising funds whereby golfers play 72 holes in 1 day.  For the past month, Team Keperra was competitive on the national Golf Club leader board, mostly sitting between 4th and 3rd with around $40K-$50K raised.  However, three Members in particular managed to raise an exceptional amount with Doug Norris raising in excess of $26K, Jackie Dowling over $13K and Nick Mair with $11K which when combined with all other members efforts bumped ‘Team Keperra’ well over $80K and well an truly into first place on the National Golf Club leader board.  By the time the 13th arrived, Team Keperra had raised over $87K, which by the end of the day, a total of $95K was pledged, with the Club itself then donating the remaining $5K to get the Club over the $100K mark. The entire group was able to finish the 4 full rounds in around 12 hours with 5 members walking the entire 4 rounds.  Alana Griffiths managed a hole in one on hole 22 and Codey Gray took out the day with the most Stableford points.  The Cancer Council was also on hand to present a cheque to the Group and congratulate them accordingly.

A very special congratulations to all those who fund raised and made up Team Keperra, you’ve done yourself and your Club very proud.
