Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June – Competition Play

Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June – Competition Play

Members, with the recent weather conditions having a detrimental impact on the Golf Course the following decisions has been made regarding this weekend’s Competition Play.

The Monthly Medal scheduled for Saturday will now be played as a Single Stableford, whilst we recognise that this is not the traditional format that Monthly Medal events are played, in the interests of pace of play and considering current course conditions, it was deemed that changing the format will improve the opportunity for Members to complete their round.

Members are once again reminded that the time allocation allowed in looking for a lost ball is a maximum of 3 minutes, if you haven’t found your ball in this time, it is considered lost. If you didn’t play a provisional ball you may wish to utilise the current Standing Local Rule which can be found by clicking on the link below:

Other Daily Local Rules that will be in effect can be viewed by clicking on the link below:

Daily Local Rules

Members will note that all bunkers will remain as optional GUR for this weekend, despite every effort being made by the Course Maintenance Staff to get bunkers back into play it was determined that an insufficient amount would be able to be utilised resulting in the Daily Local Rule remaining unchanged.

Ladies Midweek Championship (Postponed)

Ladies Midweek Championship (Postponed)

The Midweek Championship, which have already been delayed, will regrettably need to be rescheduled. In the coming week, dates for this event, including refund options for those previously booked, will be communicated.

The tee bookings for the championship players on Tuesday (31st May) have been removed.  Those players will be required to rebook times if they are wishing to play on this coming Tuesday.  To assist this process if any non-championship player who has their name down to play Tuesday and does not intend to play, please remove your name immediately.  The event will not be a Single Stroke Monthly Medal (most likely a Single Stableford), with conditions still expected to be less than desirable.  Carts will be restricted to cart paths only (with no exceptions – including orange flag holders).

It is anticipated that the course team will be spending the majority of next week mowing, which will likely cause some minor disturbance to play throughout the week.

Course Closed Weekend 28th & 29th May

Course Closed Weekend 28th & 29th May

Course Update – Weekend 28th & 29th May

This morning (Friday 27th May) a full meeting and subsequent course inspection was conducted by the Club Match and Course Committee.  Following which, the difficult decision to keep the course closed for the weekend has been made.  The Club Bar will be open Saturday between 9.30am and 12noon at which time the Clubhouse will close for the remainder of the weekend.

At all stages throughout the process consideration was given to:

  • The growing frustration of members, staff and all impacted by the course remaining closed.
  • The enjoyment of the game and time taken to play, given the current course conditions.
  • The safety of members and the Club’s risk assessment obligations.
  • The preservation of the course.
  • The financial impact on the Club.

As it stands currently (11am Friday), the course is not capable of taking machinery on the fairways and rough areas. Consequently, except for selected fairways, which were mown on Wednesday prior to the rain, the remainder of the fairways and rough have not been mowed for over two weeks.  It is the view of the Board and Management that the course is not suitably playable and, in some areas, not safe for play.

The Gents Matchplay Championship will again be delayed, with times allocated on Saturday 4th June for the Quarter Finals.  The Ladies Midweek Championship will not be played this coming Tuesday, with a decision on revised dates to be made early next week.

Today the course team are continuing with preventative spraying and mowing of the greens and tees.  Given the improved weather forecast, it is expected that mowers will again be operational on Monday, and it is anticipated that some of the course will reopen from 12noon Monday.

It is our sincere hope that this will see the end of the course closures for 2022.
