Weekend Play / Course Update – 22nd April

Weekend Play / Course Update – 22nd April

Saturday 23rd April is the Bank of Queensland -The Gap Medal which will be played as a Single Stroke, with players recording a nett par on the 8th hole, which remains out of play. The event also incorporated the first round of the Ladies Club Championships, which will be played on the North Course. In addition, the qualifying for the Gent’s Matchplay will also be played for those who have already registered. Good luck to all competing in the Ladies Championship and the Matchplay qualifying.

Local rules will remain unchanged for this weekend, with a review to be conducted next week as we move toward some bunkers returning to general play.

In the coming week there will be turf laid on a number of areas, including the 1st, 10th, 6th and 18th holes. This will be another step forward in the flood recovery process. We are still experiencing strong growth to all areas of the course, with temperatures remaining seasonally high. The team have been working hard to keep up with the mowing requirements with 4 consecutive short working weeks reducing our output capacity. Significant man hours have been invested in reinstating those bunkers which are currently repairable. Rakes will return to a number of bunkers, please use them, even though bunkers will remain as optional GUR for this weekend.

Members will also notice a temporary green is being prepared on the 5th fairway, this is being done to allow for flexibility if any work to the 8th green and retaining wall are required.
