Gents Matchplay Championships, Club Championships & Bob Harvey Memorial

Gents Matchplay Championships, Club Championships & Bob Harvey Memorial

The recent flood event at KCGC has necessitated the rescheduling, and in some cases the format, in which certain events were to be delivered.

The Gents A,B & C Grade Matchplay, which has previously had its field determined by the top 16 players, in each grade, completing the Club Championships, has required modification, in order to have this event completed by the original dates set out in this year’s Fixture Book.

Qualification will now revert to one round of 18 Holes, for all Grades, on Saturday the 23rd of April 2022. (Top 16 to qualify)

For more information, please click here

The Club Championships that were scheduled for March, are currently under review, and further information will be communicated to the Membership once a decision has been made.

The Bob Harvey Memorial that was to be played on Saturday April the 9th has been postponed and a revised date will be allocated.

Play Conditions & Information

Play Conditions & Information

The Club would like to acknowledge and thank the many volunteers who have assisted in getting the course to a position that we can now re-opening.  Furthermore, the Club would also like to thank those members that couldn’t attend the working bees but have offered financial assistance.  The Club is pursing insurance as well as several grant programs & with some good fortune these opportunities will go a long way to covering the significant costs involved with reinstatement.  In the interim the best the support the club could ask is seeing members utilise the facilities & various retail & hospitality services available.  A reminder, please refer to front page of Member homepage for timesheet release information.

Course & Fixtures

While the course is reopening there remains a significant amount of reinstatement work, which will impact all playing opportunities over the coming weeks. Member only social play timesheets are now open for booking.

Current course conditions require competition formats to be modified as noted below. This requirement will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

  • All competition will be played in a Fourball Stableford Medley format until further notice.
  • There will be no handicapping for any competition play until further notice.
  • The Old and West Courses will be played over 17 holes (8th hole out of play). For the purposes of the MiScore App, those playing these courses are to allocate the team 2 points, either player can be allocated this score.
  • Regular timesheet releases (pre flood) have now been adopted and initiated.

Safety

Every effort has been made to repair/prepare the course to a level where general play is possible.  Extensive safety & risk inspections have been conducted & although it is difficult to list all the areas with changed conditions, there is a several areas that have been marked or divided off.  We encourage members to adopt the upmost care whilst playing the course.  Placing oneself at risk for the purposes of retrieving a golf ball is simply not worth it.  We encourage players both individually and as a group to look out for each other.
