Nominations for the Board are now open with the following key dates:
- Nominations Close: Wednesday 27th October 2021
- Ballot Open: Wednesday 3rd November 2021
- Ballot Closes: Monday 22nd November 2021 (6:00pm)
- AGM: Wednesday 24th November 2021 (6:00pm)
In the lead up to the AGM, the following Board roles will be up for election:
- President (2 year term)
- Vice President (1 year term)
- Treasurer (2 year term)
- Vice-Captain (2 year term)
- Director (3) roles (2×2 year term, 1×1 year term)
As in previous years, I thought it prudent to update the members on the intention of current Board members.
My 4 year maximum term as President will come to an end at the AGM. It has been an honour to have served the Club over the past 4 years and a true pleasure to work with the Board and Management over this time. I will accordingly be standing down as President and stepping away from the Board.
Current Vice President Ian Broadley and existing Board member (and past Captain) Rod Rhodes have both expressed an intention to run for President. Both are considered worthy candidates and I wish both gents the best in this endeavour.
As Ian has determined to run for President, he is required to relinquish his current role as Vice President leaving this position vacant for the 2021/2022 year. Paul Morris, existing Board member, has expressed a desire to stand for the vacant Vice President role. I consider this a great result and fully endorse Paul for the role and to support the future President and the Board going forward. Paul has been a member of the Club for many years, has sat on the Board for 2 years with a particular focus on finance, membership and governance and has a background in finance being a current partner at KPMG.
Existing Treasurer Greg Woodroffe intends to stand again for Treasurer. Greg has done some amazing things behind the scenes in relation to reporting and budgeting, of which you only get to see a small snapshot within his annual & 6 monthly budget updates. Financially, the Club is in great shape and Greg should be fully supported for another term.
Greg Marshall was voted as Vice Captain last year for a one (1) year term and has confirmed again an intention to continue in the role as Vice Captain for the next term. As I said last year Greg has been involved on our course and match subcommittee since joining the Board and has been involved in pennant for many years. Greg’s dedication to the delivery of the new maintenance shed has been extraordinary and he has all the credentials to continue being a great VC to Doug Tester, our Captain.
With Rod Rhodes’ and Gary Musgrove’s Director positions due for re-election and with Paul Morris nominating for Vice President, there will be 3 Director/Board positions available, one for a 1-year and two for a 2-year term.
Incumbent Director Gary Musgrave has indicated his intention to re-nominate for a directorship. Gary has been a great servant on the Board for over 9 years and is very active amongst the Tuesday volunteers. Gary has the full support of the existing Board in his continuation in the role.
If you are considering running for one of the vacant Board positions, then I am happy to discuss any questions with you. Otherwise, I wish any member seeking a position on the Board the best of luck and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the upcoming AGM.
Best wishes,
Luke Simpson – Club President
