22nd October Course Update
The past week has seen a significant amount of work undertaken, in and around some rain interruptions. Importantly the greens renovations have been completed in line with last weeks course update. The fairways on holes 19-27 have been scarified, aerated, and top-dressed, with only the 19th and 27th fairways still to be rubbed in, with rain delaying the completion of these two fairways. The rough, more specifically the wire grass, has been treated with a non-selective herbicide. The rough has remained uncut to allow the wire grass to reach a height that will allow the herbicide application not to compromise the health of the remaining grass. GUR will be in place across the course over the weekend, and bunkers will be optional GUR.
22nd Hole – A new tee block has been shaped and turfed along with turfing of the 1st half of the fairway. The remainder of the fairway has been top-dressed, with some patch turfing scheduled for next week. The areas to be patch turfed will largely address those areas of the fairway which are affected by surface water flow and potential erosion.
Driveway- The main entrance driveway has undergone some repair this week. Several imperfections and raised areas of concrete have been cut out and replaced, a process that been difficult to schedule as it required the only access road to the Clubhouse to be closed for 3-4 days.

The 2021 Tangalooma Island Resort Keperra Bowl has wrapped up in spectacular fashion with a dramatic 3 hole playoff to decide the Gents Championships. While in the Female Championship it was Casey Porter who produced an outstanding final round 67 to be two shots (-7) clear of the defending 2020 Champion Justice Bosio. However all eyes were on the Gents as the two Qlder’s (Duncan & Perkins) traded blows as they played the 18th 3 times to determine the winner. In the end it was Tyler Duncan who managed a par on the 18th to become the 2021 Keperra Bowl Men’s Champion. For Golf Australia’s full report – please click here.
Congratulations to all our KCGC Members who participated in the Tournament – the final scores of those who made the cut are listed below.
Grace Rho – +7
Mikayla Dyal – +14
Jarrod Mann -2
Jordan Rooke – +1
Once again, thank you to the Club’s Principal Sponsor for their support – Tangalooma Island Resort

Seasonal Green Renovations
With the temperatures warming up it has come to the end of the viability of the seeded ‘cool season’ Poa Trivialis on the greens. We have had a great run over the cooler months utilizing this variety to provide a superior putting surface.
You will have noticed some bronzing off in this cool season variety since the spike in temperatures. This is to be expected and if nothing is done the cool season grass would naturally die off as the warmer weather sets in. Unfortunately, the pleasure the cool season variety provided over the winter does result in some pain in the transition back to the normal couch greens surface. During the winter the cool season grass out competes the couch for sunlight. In effect shading the couch and thinning it out (not dissimilar to what you may see in your yard on the southern side of the house).
The renovation scheduled for the week commencing 18th October will be significant. Scarifying to remove and thin out the cool season Poa Trivialis, Coring to further remove Poa and thatch, as well as topdressing to encourage the couch grass to regenerate and cover across.
The process of transitioning back to couch will take some time. Being conscious of this, the maintenance team have been preparing for this transition with recent increased applications of fungicide and nutrition to ensure the greens are in the best place possible leading into what will be a trying transition period.
22nd Hole
Turfing has been delayed with the weather this week and has been rescheduled for next week.
