Golf Club Memberships a scarce Commodity – Inside Golf Article

During last Month the Club was approached by Inside Golf to assist in writing an article on the current Membership environment, specifically surrounding the reintroduction of Nomination fees and provisional statuses.  In what is a great time to be a member of a Golf Club, this article provides an insight into what KCGC and other Clubs are having to do to manage the influx of Members.  Click here to view.

Member Survey

Member Survey

The Club recently received the results of the Member survey which was conducted in late March, and it was pleasing to see that more than 600 members provided feedback.  The Board and Management are presently reviewing this information and it is planned that an information session will be held in July.  Surveys of this type provide invaluable insights and very much assist the Club in guiding future decision making.  Again, thank you to those members who completed the task.

Vale – Ann Oxenham

Vale – Ann Oxenham

It is with much sadness that the Club shares news of the passing of Ann Oxenham who was a long serving retired member and mother of current Member Sue Collins.  Ann will be fondly remembered and missed by many having been a member for over 35 years and played up until she was 80 years of age.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sue’s family through this difficult time.

Ann’s life will be celebrated on Saturday June 5th / 10:30am at Pinnaroo Cemetery Chapel 285 Graham Rd, Bridgeman Downs.

Course Update 28th May

Course Update 28th May

This week the team have again focused on general course maintenance, with some additional work completed on the two main projects, being the 22nd hole and the maintenance shed upgrade.

22nd hole:

Over the past week there has been some additional tree lopping, concreting and the irrigation work has been completed. The irrigation upgrade will see double row irrigation installed, vastly increasing the area which will receive the necessary water to support the fairway changes. In the next two weeks we have 500+ tons of top-dressing sand scheduled for delivery; this will provide a suitable growing medium for the turf sprigs which will be planted in early June.

Shed:

Monday was the final day in the old shed, with all remaining equipment being moved to the temporary compound at the rear of the Clubhouse. For Joel Ross, Brad Senior and myself who have spent decades working from that shed it was a nostalgic day.  Having said that, its demolition and the construction of the new facility will be the start of a new chapter for the Course Maintenance Team.

Greens:

The Poa (oversow) is starting to mature and will continue to improve the putting surfaces over the coming weeks, with the base 328 grass recovering well.  Further remedial work will occur on selected greens where larger bare patches remain.  This task will involve plugs from the on-site turf nursery being inserted. The temporary green on the 22nd will be in use on a permanent basis once the fairway is planted.

Good Golfing.

Course Superintendent
