Keperra Bowl 2025

Keperra Bowl 2025
We are pleased to announce an exciting update regarding the Keperra Bowl, one of Keperra Country Golf Club’s most prestigious events. After a thorough three-year review, we have rescheduled the tournament from its traditional October dates to March.

WHY THE CHANGE?

This decision reflects our commitment to enhancing the experience for members and participants. Key reasons for this adjustment include:

  • Improved Member Access: Separating the event from October’s major course renovations ensures uninterrupted availability for members before this essential annual task is completed.
  • Enhanced Course Conditions: March offers ideal playing conditions, providing a superior experience for competitors and meeting the high standards of a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event.  March will very much become our “Championship” month as the Women’s and Men’s Club Championships are also scheduled over this period.
  • Operational Alignment: The new schedule aligns with our maintenance calendar, reducing resource strain and maximising the course presentation efforts of the club’s two premier golfing events.

A PROUD LEGACY CONTINUES

The Keperra Bowl, with its 20-year history, continues to attract elite amateur male and female golfers from around Australia and occasionally overseas. This change ensures the tournament remains a highlight of our calendar while addressing evolving needs.

SAVE THE DATES

We look forward to hosting the Keperra Bowl from 25 to 28 March 2025. Additional details about the event and associated activities will be shared closer to the date.

If you have any questions or require further information, please don’t hesitate to contact the Club Administration.  Thank you for your ongoing support as we make these adjustments to deliver an exceptional experience for members and players alike.

Multi Tee Pilot Program

Multi Tee Pilot Program

The club recently introduced a trial initiative as part of our Wednesday competition, allowing participants to select tees (two options) based on their ability rather than traditional gender-based designations.

Trial Details

  • Who Can Participate:
Initially, the trial will be limited to the male field, as only a forward tee option is available at this time. The club currently has limited forward tees beyond the existing red markers, which restricts broader implementation for now.
  • How It Works:
Male participants in the Wednesday competition can choose tees that better align with their playing ability. Based on the selected tee, handicap adjustments will be automatically applied.
  • Trial Period:
This initiative will run for twelve weeks, after which participant feedback will be reviewed to assess its effectiveness and potential for broader implementation.
  • Insights:
In the initial two weeks of the trial, an average of 8% of the field opted for the forward tees, and feedback from those who have chosen this option has been positive.

Benefits of the Trial

  • Enhanced Enjoyment:
Aligning tees with ability levels makes the game more enjoyable and engaging for players of all skill levels.
  • Faster Play:
A better-suited tee selection helps maintain a steady pace, improving the experience for everyone on the course.
  • Inclusivity:
While the trial is currently limited to the male field, it marks the first step in exploring more inclusive tee options for all members.

How to Participate

Male members wishing to participate in this trial can simply select their preferred tee option (standard or forward) during registration for the Wednesday competition.

Your feedback is essential to the success of this initiative. We encourage all participants to share their thoughts and experiences as we work to refine this approach.

For more information or to provide feedback, please contact Peter Zealley, Team Leader Golf Operations (peterz@keperragolf.com.au)

Thank you for your understanding and support as we try new ways to enhance the golfing experience for all members.

Kind regards,

Peter Zealley

Wes at the QLD PGA

Wes at the QLD PGA

The Club wishes to acknowledge the recent efforts of Wesley Hinton.  Wes had the trip of a lifetime after being selected to travel and stay with Cameron Smith in Jacksonville as part of Cam’s Scholarship program in conjunction with Golf Australia. Cam then joined Wes for a practice round before the Bowl and was even on site to watch him sink his tricky birdie putt on the 72nd hole to join a playoff.  Wes went onto play at last week’s QLD Queensland PGA alongside Smith and fellow scholarship recipient Kayun Mudadana at Nudgee Golf Club.  Sadly Wes missed the cut by just one shot with his final chip lipping out for Birdie.  For a full story on Wes’s inclusion in the Queensland PGA – please click here
