Ladies Pennant Update

Ladies Pennant Update

It was Keperra’s turn to host last week with the Keperra Ladies Sapphire Weekday Team up against neighbours Wantima Golf Club. In the end the home course advantage and local knowledge was too much for Wantima, with our ladies running away with a 7 – 0 win. This fantastic result keeps the team well in contention for the flag in what is a very tight race, keep up the great play Ladies.

Keperra Ladies Yellow Diamond Team has seen success over the first two rounds played at Brisbane Golf Club and Royal Queensland Golf Club and were able to put their feet up last Sunday, with a bye, as the other teams did battle at Keperra.

This coming Friday the Sapphire Team will travel to Sandgate Golf Club to take on ladder leaders Nudgee while on Sunday the Yellow Diamond Team will take on Oxley at host club Nudgee.

Best of luck this weekend Ladies and play well!

—————————-

Keperra Golf Club kicked off the Ladies 2024 Pennants season with a Rules Night on Wednesday 17 April. This was a great opportunity for the Players and Caddies to come together, build team comradery and be prepared for a successful season to represent Keperra.

The Keperra Ladies Yellow Diamond Team has seen success over the first two rounds played at Brisbane Golf Club and Royal Queensland Golf Club, winning against Nudgee in round 1 (4.5 vs 2.5) and Brisbane in round 2 (5 vs 2). The Team are revved up and striving to bring home the 2024 Pennant for Keperra!

The Keperra Ladies Sapphire Weekday Team had their first match at Virginia Golf Club on Friday 26 April. The Team unfortunately lost to Redcliffe (5 vs 2). They play their second match on Friday 3 May vs Sandgate at Wantima Golf Club. All the best ladies this week!

Keperra will host the Yellow Diamond Weekend Ladies Pennants on Sunday 12 May and the Sapphire Weekday Ladies Pennants on Friday 10 May. Any members, families and friends willing to volunteer and help on Friday 10 May or Sunday 12 May are welcome. Please contact myself, Pennants Coordinator, jemma.leonard7@gmail.com or 0424582247, if you can assist.

Ladies Midweek Championships 2024 – Final Results

Ladies Midweek Championships 2024 – Final Results

The final round of the Ladies Midweek Championships took place today, with all 3 grades being tightly contested.

In the fight for Midweek Gross Champion, it came down to a battle between 2, with Jemma Leonard holding a narrow 1 shot lead over defending Champion Angela Gordon, going into the final round. After a tightly contested front 9, Angela looked to put her foot down with back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11, however Jemma played steady golf down the stretch and as Angela struggled with the challenging finish of holes 16 through 18. In the end it was Jemma who would prevail by 2 shots to secure her first Midweek Gross Championship.

In the Midweek Nett Championship, it was Ally Maguire who would take the spoils with a total of 144 nett. It was a day to remember for Ally as she also took out the A Grade and Senior Nett Champion titles.

Congratulations must also go out to the following players who managed to win in the following categories.

B Grade Gross – Pat Connor 197 gross

C Grade Gross – Sue Collins 219 gross

B Grade Nett – Jill Garvey 157 nett

C Grade Nett and Veterans Champion – Ruth Turnbull (a special mention must go out to Ruth who was competing in her first ever Midweek Championships and enjoyed an extremely successful debut.)
