Course News

It’s pleasingly to see after the significant rainfall received throughout August, followed by the warm temperatures, the Course has bounced back following the winter conditions.  This should create a solid foundation heading into Summer as the course and maintenance team will have their work cut out for them staying on top of the rapidly growing fairways and rough.

Members will have noticed the Course and Maintenance Team have been busy clearing out certain areas of the course, specifically overhanging limbs on holes 13 and 17, and the Chinese Elm (Weed Tree) on the 19th hole.  The clearing on hole 19 has been undertaken to improve the quality of airflow in this region of the course.

The Club’s Herbicide spray program has now commenced on fairways while bunker works continues, specifically topping up with sand as required.

Following the recent Tee Block Project, all work has now been completed and these tees have had their first mow.

2024 Gents Pennant Wrap up

2024 Gents Pennant Wrap up

On Sunday the 18th of August, Keperra played their final match of the season against Royal Queensland. The equation was simple, we required 13.5 points from 21 to remain in Division 1 for a 13th straight year. Despite the team’s best efforts, it wasn’t meant to be with both teams finishing on 10.5 points each resulting in KCGC heading back to Division 2 for the 2025 season.

Special mention must go to KCGC Club Champion, Wesley Hinton, who had an outstanding season winning all 5 of his matches playing at Number 1. Wesley was able to win both home and away with his best result coming back from 3 down through 10 holes to defeat current Keperra Bowl Champion, Billy Dowling, 2up.

Daniel Butler is also deserved of recognition of his continued efforts in managing the team. He and his fellow selectors have again worked tirelessly to ensure that no stone was left unturned in preparing the team for their matches every week.

Best of luck for the 2025 season and we hope to be back in Division 1 in 2026.

The Club is also happy to announce that Phil Wuersching from Jim’s Test & Tag has extended his Club Sponsorship, and that of the Club’s Pennant Side for a further 12 months.

2024 Keperra Bowl

2024 Keperra Bowl

The Keperra Bowl is a major event for the club and the logistical operations attached would not be possible without the assistance and co-operation of club members. This year’s Keperra Bowl will be staged between Monday 14th to Friday 18th October and this year will be the 20th year the Club has staged this prestigious tournament.

The Bowl provides the club with an excellent opportunity to showcase the course, the overall facilities of the club and importantly the welcoming culture that Keperra possesses. The Board would like to thank all members for their support of the tournament and the facility access sacrifices that are made throughout the 5 days of the event.  Furthermore, the Board would also like to acknowledge and thank those members who have previously volunteered to aid in the running of the event.

For any member looking to volunteer and assist in the running of the event, please email the Club via admin@keperragolf.com.au.  Members are encouraged to take advantage of their privileged position and catch the action live and free of charge throughout the week.

Play will still be available over holes 19-27 for the full duration of the event. All Clubhouse access and general member services will remain unchanged throughout the week of the tournament.

Our second and final open day for 2024 was held this week.  A foggy start became a beautiful warm day, so much better than the first Open Day which rained all day, causing deferral.

The winners of the Canadian Foursomes competition, by a whopping 7.75 strokes on 69.75 were Angela Gordon and Catrina Daly.  Second, on a countback on 77.5 were  Pamela Lawrence and Pamela Couch (Wantima).
