Ladies Corner

Ladies Corner

I write this with a sense of déjà vu, because of all the rain!

The first weekend monthly medal has been fought over and won by Shauna Thompkins with a nett of 71.

In 2024, we will continue the trial of two tee times for the Tuesday after the weekday monthly medal.  It is designed to allow greater socialisation and the award of the previous week’s medal. It would be good to see as many people as possible in the club house after the two tee starts.

BDLGA has released the draw for Ladies pennants this year.  For more details please see our Pennant Coordinator Jemma Leonard or visit the BDLGA Pennant website – by clicking here.

Weekend Course Condition

Weekend Course Condition

Please refer below for important information regarding play over the weekend and early next week.  Please keep in mind all the factors mentioned in this communication do very little to assist pace of play.  We ask Members to be conscious of their position in the field and limit time looking for golf balls and be patient & respectful.

Course Condition

The Course and Maintenance team have not yet been able to mow the rough areas and as such they are expectedly long in some patches. The priority this week has been managing the green renovations, mowing tees / selected fairways and course reinstatement. The greens have been re-dusted late in the week and as such will not have been mowed – as is the normal process following renovations.

Local rules

The Local rules board has been updated – it is recommended members read this (as always) prior to playing.

11th Bridge

There is now signage on the 11th bridge detailing the changed conditions as well as a requirement of cart users to slow their speed upon using it.

Private Cart Usage

Following the substantial rain received over the course of the week – it is extremely damp and soggy in certain parts of the course.  The Club is expecting that all private cart users adhere to the requirements of play over the weekend (and until further notice) specifically that all carts are to remain on concrete pathways at all time.  Your adherence and cooperation is essential.

GPS Controlled Club Carts

As previously communicated the Club will be restricting motorised carts to the concrete pathways over the weekend (and until further notice).  The Course is still extremely damp and soggy and Member understanding and cooperation is appreciated.

Course Update

Course Update

Following yesterday’s inspection, the Course will remain closed on Friday until 2:30pm, when it will be open for members and their guests only.  The practice facilities will open at 9:30am.  An online booking sheet is now available on the club website .  As such, can I please stress the importance of confirming a booking before ‘showing up’ to avoid disappointment.

Unfortunately, the Bridge on the 11th hole has been damaged, and remedial works are planned for Friday morning.  As such, 18 of the 27 holes will be in play tomorrow.   Longer-term repairs will need to be undertaken in the coming weeks.  Thankfully, the main irrigation line on the same bridge was unaffected.

The remainder of the course, except for select holes (1/4/7/8/14/16/18/19), has held up quite well, all things considered.  These holes bore the grunt of the flooding, and as such, the Course and Maintenance team have been sweeping up debris by hand to assist in the drying of these areas & enabling mowing.  Unfortunately, there has been some small ‘gauging’ to the front (thankfully) of the 8th green, which will be filled accordingly.

A communication regarding Saturday’s (and likely Sunday’s) Competition/ non-competition golf and the associated playing conditions, local rules, cart operation and private cart operation will also placed on the Member Home page and emailed to all members.

The green renovations, which commenced on Monday, have been completed as planned, which has been an extraordinary feat, mindful of the added workload created this week. On behalf of the Club, I’d like to thank Course Superintendent Keith, Assistant Tim and the maintenance team for their hard work and commitment to getting the course back in play.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Club on Friday.

Kind regards,

Rod Rhodes

Club President

Club Closed – Saturday

Club Closed – Saturday

Unfortunately the Course received 80mm as at 5am this morning, however this has since grown to over 120mm at the time of publishing this Member post.  Fairways 1/10/18/19 have again been flooded (image below).  The challenge we face at the moment is that the course is unable to be accessed in order to complete an course assessment.

The Club (inclusive of Course, Practice Facilities and Club Bar) has made a decision to close for the weekend (17 & 18).

Members are reminded to always go by the information published by the Club on the website and member portal for the most up to date Course Conditions.
