Members will have noticed that the Course and Maintenance team have recently done some minor de-thatch and dusting of the greens as part of their regular summer/autumn maintenance Program.

Periodically, the Club is asked why sand is used for the top dressing and the renovation practice is often followed up by what we call periodic dusting of the greens.  To best clarify these practices, the below link to the USGA’s website provides an excellent explanation – click here to view.

Ladies & Gents Club Championships 2024 – Final Results

The final round of the Ladies & Gents Club Championships was played on Sunday the 17th of March.

After heading into the third round on Saturday tied for he lead, Wesley Hinton decided it was time to assert his dominance on his opponents and went out and shot a fine 5 under par 66 to give him a commanding 8 shot lead over Jarrod Mann heading into the final round. Wesley wasn’t about to let anyone get close on Sunday, shooting a 4 under par round of 68 to end up with an 18 shot cushion and a successful defence of his 2023 Club Championship title.

B Grade Gents was a tightly fought contest with 10 players within 6 shots heading into Sunday’s round. In the end 2 players could not be split, Liam Richards and Warren Scott needing a playoff to determine our winner. After narrowly avoiding the water on the left off the 10th Warren was able to scramble a par 4 to take home the title.

C Grade saw overnight leader Ciaran McEvoy endure some nervous moments when his overnight lead of 7 shots was whittled down to just 1 shot. Thankfully for Ciaran 1 shot was all he would need to win his first C Grade title.
