Annual Subscriptions

Annual Subscriptions

Unlike the severe weather conditions experienced last year, the weather gods have been kinder to us in 2023, greatly assisting the course’s recovery. Seeing the course in the condition we are presently enjoying is fantastic.

Testimony to this is the many members, social players, and guests singing the course’s praises to management and, more importantly, the Golf Shop team, who tend to receive the rough end of the pineapple when things are not at their best.

These improvements do not just happen with clear weather, they also require sound planning and utilisation of resources. We are fortunate to have a resolute course maintenance team leveraging the opportunities that come with a larger operational budget.

The Course team are also enjoying, and is very much appreciative of, the facilities that now exist within the new Maintenance Shed.

Furthermore, the Club has maintained its commitment to scheduled machinery replacement, and this year has included the replacement of two mowers & the addition of another spray rig which will focus on eradicating foreign grass (weeds).

Some excellent work is also being undertaken on a redevelopment plan for the concourse and lower level of the clubhouse, including an additional practice putting green and a short game area near the (old) wedding garden/gazebo. As these plans come to fruition, they will be shared.

The challenges of the future lie with the membership of today. Charting the club’s future starts with ensuring it possesses a modern and progressive Constitution. The current Constitution was last reviewed in 2014, and although it has served its purpose well, it requires updating. Our governance model must be robust yet flexible enough to maximise opportunity. Preserving and improving facilities for current and future members should always be the guiding principle.

With this in mind, and with the support & recommendation of Golf Australia, CPR Group has been engaged to assist with the review of the Constitution.

As with any forward-thinking Business or Organisation, current strategies cannot be solely relied upon to take us successfully into the future, and we would ask that we all have an open mind to discussing and supporting any necessary changes that will help ensure and assist the ongoing strength and longevity of your club.

As you will be aware, Annual Subscriptions are due each year at the end of August and will include an increase equivalent to C.P.I., which this year is 7.4%. Notices will be emailed to all members in the coming weeks.

Enjoy your golf, and as always, feel free to contact me at any time should you wish to discuss any matters or issues relating to the club.

Practice Fairway

Practice Fairway

It is important to remember that the primary use of the area remains unchanged. This meaning that it is a Practice Fairway which as previously will involve players hitting balls exclusively from the designated hitting area at the far end to the fairway (near 27th hole) and balls travelling in the direction of the clubhouse.

Although additional safety measures have been added, mainly the net at the clubhouse end of the fairway, golf balls are not to be hit beyond the “new” yellow post that will signify the end of the fairway, (which will be short of the new 28th Green).  This green’s use, in the main, will be limited to those using the practice bunker and for close range chipping with up to a maximum of 6 balls. Please refer to below image for specifications.

The new & improved short course will primarily be used by junior and new starter golfers and periodically made available for general use.

At all times, the Club Teaching Professionals have Practice fairway right of use, which is again an unchanged policy.

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all users, it is imperative that the practice fairway rules of use are followed.

Pace of Play

Pace of Play

An alarming trend is starting to emerge regarding pace of play during the Club’s Competitions.  During Winter, the need to remain vigilant in regards to your place in the field becomes paramount.  Below are a few reminders which all members should adhere to while playing during a competition.

  • Looking for a lost ball is limited to a maximum 3 minutes (Rule of Golf).
  • Let shorter hitters hit first off tee blocks.
  • Play ‘Ready golf’

Your place in the field is not in front of the group behind,

it is directly behind the group in front.

The Club has seen several occasions whereby groups lose touch with the group in front and the issue becomes compounded for each group behind.
