Course News

The renovations in late January were highly successful with the greens recovering quickly and mowing heights reduced to 3mm (from 3.5mm) with the exception of Green 7, 8 & 17.  The grooming and dusting program which has been in place for the past 9 months will continue through Autumn whilst turf growth is still evident.  The good plant health of the putting green surfaces has also allowed Course staff to introduce a weekly rolling program that started mid-February.  This practice should further enhance the pace and trueness of the putting surfaces.

The 2022 flood damaged areas (fairways 10 and 18) have been resurfaced last month and again we are encouraged by the growth evident.  Several bare patches on tee blocks throughout the course have also been repaired.

As we move into Autumn, the focus will move predominately to general maintenance and preparing the course for Winter. In addition to this, activities to support the grow in of the practice fairway/short course will continue.

A 40m safety net will soon be installed at the back of the practice fairway adjacent to the carpark before the short course is open.

Bunkers

The Club’s green keeping staff rake and repair bunkers at least three times per week.  As members know there can be a significant difference in the condition of the bunkers immediately after and a few days after this maintenance has occurred.  This does not need to be the case if we all follow the following steps:

  • Always enter and exit bunkers from the lowest point
  • When entering a bunker, a player should take the rake with them.  This saves excessive movement and footprints in the bunker
  • When exiting a bunker, carefully rake and smooth over all damaged areas and footprints and leave the rake with the tip of the handle resting on the bunker edge.

Below are some examples of members not adhering to such etiquettes adding to the frustration of fellow members.
