Ladies Corner

Ladies Corner

Our Closing Day was a great success. The weather was fine and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the Circus Ambrose that we played. Thanks to Michael Dash and his staff for providing a lovely Christmas lunch.

Just Better Care Brisbane North provided great hampers for the winners; Heather Adams, Vi Hal, Gillian Haussmann and Margaret Buck. The runners up; Robin Baker, Katrina Daley, Lilley Riley and Alison Busby received a box of golf balls.

Kimmi Roberts sponsored the Gold Medal winners; A grade – Jackie Dowling,

B Grade – Zena Bell and C Grade – Faye Gaylor. Saturday Gold Medal winner was Julie Lakotij.

Our BDLGA broach winners were A grade – Julie Lakotij, B grade – Michelle Lavin and C grade – Nancy Robertson.

Some of our lady members volunteered their time to go out on the course with the ladies that have completed the Pathway Clinics. Everybody had a great time, and it was a good way for these ladies to meet our members.

The Ladies Committee held their Annual Meeting after the Closing Day luncheon. We said good bye to Renai Ridley and Carrie Barham who retired and welcomed Jennie Jahnke as Secretary, and Gillian DiCorleto as Captain. Lee Mathieson has very kindly offered to be Pennants Coordinator again for 2023.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all Seasons Greetings and a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

Sue Truckey

Lady President

Dylan books ticket to Berlin

Dylan books ticket to Berlin

Winning gold at the State Games put Dylan in the mix for World Games selection and he was over the moon when he received his formal invitation to represent Australia in Berlin from 17 to 25 June 2023.  There were 6 golfers selected to represent Australia in golf for the World Games, 5 of which are from Queensland.  Only 66 athletes have been selected to represent Australia across a number of sports. The World Games golf tournament will be held at The Golf Club Bad Saarow outside of Berlin.

As an aside Dylan was invited by the Australian PGA to play in the $2 million Sonic Hole In One beat the pro event last weekend. While he didn’t get a hole in one he did get nearer the hole than 2 of the 3 pros, with a great shot to the green on the 160m hole 4 at Royal Queensland. He won $1000 for beating the pro!  We’re all proud of him for hitting such a great shot with all the added pressure of professionals and spectators watching on. Equally impressive was another Special Olympics golf player Natashca Tennent who was in the next group. She also beat the pros showing that there’s no such thing as disability but rather golfers of all abilities!  – As described by Father, Terry Price.  Congratulations Dylan on an outstanding achievement.
