September Juniors

September Juniors

Several of our Keperra Juniors played tournaments throughout the School Holidays with some great performances.

In the Gary Player Classic we had Jack Armstrong finishing outright 4th in the 15 and under division gross and Wes Hinton (tied 5th), Jack Jones (8th) and Fahim Hilmi (tied 19th) playing in the 16-17 years division gross. Congratulations boys on a fantastic performance.

In the Katherine Kirk ladies event held at Maroochy River we also saw some strong performances.

Caitlin Vanderkruk finished in 13th position in the under 18 division gross while Cassandre Geens took out the nett side of the event on a countback finishing on minus 7.

Well done to all our Juniors representatives and keep up the good work.

Board Update

Board Update

Nominations for the Board will soon open with the following key dates:

Nominations Open:        Wednesday 5th  October 2022

Nominations Close:        Wednesday 2nd November 2022

Ballot Open:                     Wednesday 9th  November 2022

Ballot Closes:                   Monday 28th  November 2022 (6:00pm)

AGM:                                  Wednesday 30th November 2022 (6:00pm)

In the lead-up to the AGM, the following Board roles will be up for election: –

  • Vice President           (2-year term)
  • Treasurer                   (1-year term)
  • Captain                       (2-year term)
  • Director (2) roles       (2 x 2-year term)

As in previous years, I thought it prudent to update the members on the intention of current Board members.

Vice President Paul Morris has expressed an intention to relinquish his current position and nominate for the vacant Treasurer role, a position he has overseen for the past 3 months due to a board resignation.   Paul has been a member of the Club for many years, has sat on the Board and Finance Committee for 3 years with a particular focus on finance, membership and governance and has a background in this field, being a Partner at KPMG.

Board member Helen Blanchfield has confirmed her intention to nominate for the Vice President position previously held by Paul Morris. I consider this a great result for the club and fully endorse Helen for the role. Helen has been a valuable member of the board for the past 4 years and has led much of the rationalisation of club “Match ” structures and increasing participation with a focus on women’s golf.

Doug Tester has confirmed his intention to continue in the role of Captain for a further two years which will complete his maximum four-year tenure. Doug’s leadership and experience greatly assisted the course reinstatement post the floods earlier this year & he continues to oversee the flood recovery plan which includes the construction of a new 28th hole and replacement of the 8th green.

Both Helen Blanchfield and Gary Musgrove’s Director positions are due for re-election, with both roles a 2-year term.

Gary Musgrave has indicated his intention to re-nominate for a directorship.  Gary has been a great servant on the Board for several years, and actively volunteers in roles that go beyond the tasks of a director.   Gary has the full support of the existing Board in his continuation as a Director of the Club.

With Helen nominated for the Vice President role, a director position becomes vacant.  The board regularly reviews its composition and capabilities against its strategic objectives and the desired competencies detailed in the club’s board skills matrix.  It has been identified that the board ideally is seeking a person with appropriate credentials in finance and/or commercial/government relations to nominate for the board and join the finance & audit committee.

If you are considering running for one of the vacant Board positions, then I am happy to discuss any questions with you. Otherwise, I wish any member seeking a position on the Board the best of luck and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the upcoming AGM.

Best wishes,

Rod Rhodes

President
